Where do they come from?

"TO LIVE" BUT NOT IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY. WHY ?

There are different reasons why people decide to escape from their homeland.

In countries such as South Sudan, Afghanistan and Syria, they prefer to travel through the desert to reach another country rather than suffering for reasons related to POLITICAL CONFLICTS.

They entrust their life to traffickers instead of their governants in fact about 65.3 million people that escape are more than the French population. In particular, 3.20 million are seeking asylum, 21.3 million are refugees and 40.8 million are internally displaced.

REASONS WHY PEOPLE RUN AWAY FROM SOUTH SUDAN

South Sudan obtained its independence from Sudan in 2011. Afterwards took place political tension between the president Salva Kiir who represents the ethnic group Dinka and the vice-president Riek Machar who represents the ethnic group Nuer because of exploitation of resources. For this ethnic war they have to escape from their country to have a better life.

REASONS WHY PEOPLE RUN AWAY FROM AFGHANISTAN

People are forced to escape from Afghanistan for three main reasons: first of all most people in the major cities of Afghanistan don’t have vital facilities such as food, running water, electricity, medical care and education. This country is one of the poorest in the world in fact only the 20% of people are just living above the poverty line. Terrorist attacks are the second reason that lead Afghan to run away. In particular Kabul which represents the emblem of the power was attacked 37 times only last year. Finally the problem that persists now is the war that begins in 2001 between Talibans and Islamic State for political reasons. For this motif they don’t want to live in fear so they take a risk: leaving their homes and hope for the best.

REASONS WHY PEOPLE RUN AWAY FROM SYRIA

Syrian populations are against the President Assad. They start revolting because they require more civil rights. Assad interprets this insurrection as civilians want to lapse their government and so he reacts with a violent repression. For this reason civilians are divided into two parts: the free Syrian militia, which are people against Assad who want to get more civil rights and bring to the end of the dictatorship. On the other hand, there is legal militia of Assad’s government who want to maintain his power and do not allow people to have more civil rights and the control of the country.
